Q: How is Allied Special Products different from Allied Van Lines?
A: Allied Special Products is a division of Allied Van Lines. It
specializes in transporting high-value products or sensitive, hard-to-move
items.
Q: What is a "high-value product"?
A: Any product requiring extraordinary care in handling and transport.
Examples include medical equipment, fine art, tradeshow exhibits, aerospace
components, and many other types of sensitive or specialized products that can
be hard to move.
Q: Are there certain types of products Allied specializes in?
A: We move a wide variety of unusual items, ranging from space shuttle
components to dinosaur bones to large MRI and copy machines, so we can handle
almost any type of specialty shipment.
Q: What if Allied doesn’t have any experience with my particular type of
product?
A: Allied Special Products prides itself on being able to develop
innovative, thoughtful shipping solutions customized to your unique needs. Even
if we haven't moved your specific product, we bring years of experience to your
transportation challenge and can design a custom solution that will keep your
shipment safe and secure. We also make sure our drivers receive special
training in the handling of your unique product.
Q: Do individual consumers use Allied Special Products?
A. While a large part of our business comes from companies, we are also
the leading provider of motorcycle transportation services to individual
consumers. We will also provide transportation services for the purchase and
sale of large collectibles such as arcade games, jukeboxes, and pinball
machines.
Q: What are the benefits of shipping my motorcycle with Allied Special Products
vs. other methods?
A: We have our own proprietary SecureRideTM
skid system which transports motorcycles safely, without the need for costly
crating. We also use only vehicles with lift gates for motorcycle transport, so
bikes stay absolutely still during loading and unloading. Plus, we have
dedicated motorcycle drivers who are motorcycle enthusiasts themselves, so they
know bikes, and they treat each one as if it were their own.
Q: How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle?
A: The final cost will depend on the size of the bike, the distance it
is being transported, and the accessories being transported with it. An average
motorcycle shipment costs around $400-$600 depending on distance and location.
Please see our Request an Estimate page to request
more information about moving your bike.
Q: How do I contact an Allied agent to discuss my shipment?
A. Simply fill out the appropriate Request an
Estimate form from our site, and your request will be automatically
routed to one of our agents for follow-up.
Q: How long does it typically take to receive my shipment?
A: Shipments transported via our Express 1 LTL network are typically
delivered within 5-7 business days of pickup. Next-day service is available in
some markets. Full truckload shipments transported via our roving fleet are
typically delivered within 7 business days.
Q: How do I file a claim?
A: While Allied prides itself on safe, reliable delivery of your
valuable products, we also recognize that if damage claims do arise, it is
important that they be handled as quickly as possible. For your convenience, we
have provided an on-line version of our Claim Form
to expedite the claim process. Please complete this form and transmit it to us.
Receipt of your claim will be acknowledged, and a claim number and adjustor
will be assigned. Your adjustor will review the claim and contact you if
necessary with any further instructions. Since all damaged items are subject to
inspection, please do not proceed with any repairs or dispose of any items.
